Highland Jewel
Published in Paperback by Avon (March, 1994)
Average review score:

Wonderful, great characters!!I enjoyed this book from the first page to the last. I am looking forward to reading every book Ms Greiman has written, as I love stories about the Scottish Highlands. She holds a reader's interest with a fast moving story much like my other favorite Julie Garwood. Love the people she created for this story too.

Highland Journey: A Sketching Tour of Scotland Retracing the Steps of Victorian Artist J. T. Reid

Average review score:

Highland JourneyMairi follows the path of a 19th century artist who traveled through the highlands, sketching as he went. The book provides a very interesting comparison of the two century's perpectives on the highlands as well as enjoyable watercolor paintings of the highlands

The Highland Lord
Published in Paperback by Signet (December, 1992)
Average review score:

Nothing like a good Scottish "fling" to warm the heart! This book was a pleasant way to pass the evening. The hero and heroine were likable, and the author spent some time sketching out why they were attracted to each other, beyond physical appearance. It may stretch credulity a bit to think that the heroine, who is a London member of the ton, will so easily give up her former glamorous life to live in the wilds of Scotland, but all in all, the story still worked. There was a nice secondary romance between the heroine's cousin, and the hero's sister, as well. There was enough historical background to help explain the problems of a relationship between an English woman and a proud highland lord, but not so much to be overwhelming. The only thing that kept this from being a five was that the plot was a bit too simple. It would have been nice to have a bit more excitement in it. As it is, though, it is going on my keeper shelf, to be re-read as a "comfort" read during some long winter night!

Highland Sword (Mystical Highlands)
Published in Mass Market Paperback by Harlequin (01 April, 2003)
Average review score:

Simple and Passionate start to an anticipated seriesRuth Langan has a way of drawing her reader into the passion of the moment. Simple yet complex characters lead the way through a beautifully set fairytale story of witches and warriors. The passion is stoked between sheets of intrigue and mystery, building until it overwhelms the prime characters.
A quick read, a well-thought-out plot. Let's hope the second book "The Betrayal" holds true to the first.

Highlands of Many Cultures: The Southern Samaria Survey: The Sites
Published in Hardcover by Tel Aviv University, Institute of Archaeology (December, 1997)
Average review score:

Well-presented survey data! This volume represents the publication of a large scale survey that was conducted in the central hills region of Palestine/Israel, in the area from slightly north of Jerusalem, to slightly to the south of modern day Nablus. The data includes surface finds from periods ranging from the Prehistoric until the Modern periods. For the most part, the data is nicely represented and discussed and one gets a well-based and well-thought out picture of the long-term history and cultural development of this region. Particular emphasis is put on the Bronze and Iron ages (biblical period). One aspect that is clearly lacking in the book is an explicit discussion and description of the actual survey methods that were employed during the field work. Over all, this book provides important basic data for the study of the ancient history and cultures of the Holy Land.

Hook or Crook
Published in Hardcover by St. Martin's Press (January, 1995)

Well doneThis a reprint but if you haven't got it yet it is worth getting. If you're looking for a dog theme you'll be disappointed as it is about fishing but the character will be familiar as Wallace James is the partner of Hammond's famous Gunsmith. Found out much about fishing and bodies and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jamie MacLeod Highland Lass (The Highland Collection Book I)
Published in Paperback by Bethany House (May, 1987)
Average review score:

FairThis was a pretty good book. It`s the story of Jamie MacLeod and her life as she grows up. While not very fast paced, it is well worth the reading and a great piece of historical fiction.

The Legend of Robin Brodie (Samson, Lisa, Highlanders, Book 2.)
Published in Paperback by Harvest House Publishers, Inc. (July, 1995)

Good, but sadPersonally, I think this book was awesome, it has great charactors, but I didn't like the fact that the first husband died. I liked him better than the second, who by the way is one of the main characters... oops!
It's a tragic story, yet beautiful,... I really enjoyed it, for a sequal it is great... you should read it... but AFTER the first one or you'll not get anything out of it... the 1st one is called 'The Highlander And His Lady'

The lost world of Venezuela and its vegetation
Published in Unknown Binding by C. Brewer-Carâias ()
Average review score:

A beautiful photographic overview of the High GuayanaColorful photographs of flowering plants, as well as aerial views of the grandiose table top mountains on which they grow, comprise seventy percent of this fascinating volume. Descriptive sections on the geography and geology, endemism, and carnivorous plants reward the reader with brief but satisfying discussions. Throughout the book, the author tells of the region's explorers. This is an excellent coffee-table style book. In fact, it was on the coffee tables at the resorts in the "Lost World" region of Venezuela that I discovered it.

Off The Beaten Track Volume VI: A Guide to Mountain Biking in West Virginia's Northern Highlands
Published in Paperback by Milestone Press (1995)
Average review score:

Solid resource for Northern VA TrailsThere are many good trails within the book, but sometimes the maps are quite as good as they could be. Most of the trails are in VA, not really close to DC. It is a good book to have on the shelf!
